Scotts Flat Dam (elevation 3,075 feet)
Scotts Flat Dam and Reservoir is an instream reservoir on Deer Creek. It is located 5 miles northeast of Nevada City.
The dam was constructed in 1948 and raised in 1962-63. Standing at 175 high and 980 in length, it is an earthen dam.
The reservoir has a surface area of 850 acres with a maximum capacity of 48,547 acre-feet. The typical low level is 33,000 acre-feet.
NID has storage water rights that include consumptive and non-consumptive uses.
Recreation: Two campgrounds, day-use and three boat launches (one in Cascade Shores). About 110,000 people visit each year.
Scotts Flat is the water storage supply for a majority of Nevada County canals. It also is the forebay for the Scotts Flat Powerhouse.
