North Auburn Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
The North Auburn Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is over 50 years old and has undergone numerous upgrades. The most recent upgrade is the current North Auburn WTP Upgrades project which began in late 2023 and is anticipated to be completed by 2025. The current project replaces older electrical motor control components with a new Motor Control Center (MCC), adding a new PG&E transformer pad, and installing a new emergency generator pad and overhead enclosure structure. The project includes the installation of new electrical conduit that joins the new MCC panel with existing pumps at the treated storage tanks (clearwells). The pumps will be upgraded with soft-start controllers. The project will improve the operation of the WTP and provide additional resiliency in the event of a PG&E power outage.
Construction of the improvements is approximately 50% completed with the remaining items including the installation of a pre-built MCC electrical panel and transformer. The total project cost is approximately $2,111,000. The District has contracted with C & D Contractors, Inc.
