NID receives award for excellence in financial reporting
(Grass Valley, Jan. 22, 2025) The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) granted the award for the report, which is independently audited, covering the fiscal year that ended December 31, 2023.
The certificate is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
"The ACFR award is like a gold star for the Finance Department and how well NID handles its financial activities, including following policies and procedures and management of reporting out to the public in order to have a clean independent annual audit,” said NID Controller Katherine Korsak. “It shows that NID has high standards for maintaining accurate records and making them easier for all to understand.”
The GFOA, which is based in Chicago, noted in a release to NID: “The report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.”
