Five Year Drought Alternatives
October 7, 2020

At the September 24 Technical Clarification meeting, the public requested that NID adjust the hypothetical 5-year drought per DWR recently released Urban Water Management Plan draft guidebook. NID asked HDR to modify the 5-year drought recently developed for the Water Supply Analysis Technical Memorandum (TM), presented as Table 3-1, to use the 5-consecutive driest years in the 1976-2011. HDR ran two hypothetical scenarios as identified below: (i) Alternative 5-year drought based on the five-consecutive driest years in the 1976-2011 period of record and (ii) Alternative 5-year drought based on the repeated average of the five-consecutive driest years in the 1976-2011 period of record.
