The recommended repairs have been completed. Post-construction fish monitoring will take place annually for five years.

Some repairs have been recommended by the project's designer that will be completed after the outage in October 2023.

The project was substantially completed when the cone screen and control gate were placed in service in April 2023.
November 15, 2022 -
The recent rains have brought the Auburn Ravine to life, and NID's new Hemphill Fish Passage is now flowing water.
The District’s passage construction will open up about six miles of habitat to migrating and resident fish on the Auburn Ravine, northeast of Lincoln.

October 11, 2022 - The sheet pile has been installed and cut to elevation. Welding has started on the plate to cover the top of the sheet pile. Demolition of the concrete diversion has been completed. Placement of the engineered streambed material (ESM) is taking place and the stream is taking shape! Construction has started on the new Hemphill Canal headworks which will include a cone screen.
August 25, 2022 - Westcon Construction (Westcon) mobilized on-site on July 29, 2022, and received Worker Environmental Awareness Training from ECORP Consulting. ECORP Consulting completed all required pre-construction surveys. To date, Westcon has installed exclusion fencing, cleared and grubbed portions of the project site, installed bypass piping to allow for flows to continue downstream of the ravine and Hemphill Canal during construction of the fish passage and installed the cofferdam to all for dewatering of the site.
