Reminder: Join us for a public workshop to explore local power solutions on Oct. 29

October 28, 2019

Would local control of our electric distribution be in our community’s best interest? Join us to explore an alternative power solution for our region. Nevada Irrigation District (NID) has organized a public workshop for Tuesday, Oct. 29 from 6-8 pm at the District’s Board of Directors boardroom in Grass Valley.

Keeping us safe from catastrophic wildfire is paramount, but many are questioning whether the recent Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) are being conducted on too large a scale and, in some cases, when localized weather hasn’t posed an extreme threat. The outages are having widespread effects on our community, resulting in increased urgency to explore local solutions.

The workshop will take place at 1036 West Main Street in Grass Valley on Tuesday. NID has a back-up power generator, so the meeting will continue regardless of power outage status. This workshop will be live-streamed, provided resources are operating and not affected by a PSPS.

The boardroom capacity is 85 people. Unlimited spill-over capacity will be available in the parking lot adjacent to the building. All workshop participants will be able to provide input.
