NID wildfire safety efforts will be highlighted during the July 24 Board of Directors meeting

Nevada Irrigation District (NID) is working hard to protect our community against wildfire risks through diverse projects and programs. Details and examples of those efforts will be discussed during the Board of Directors meeting on July 24.

NID managers will talk about what their departments are doing to assist with fire preparedness throughout our community.

The topics include:
• Increased wildfire threats to California watersheds
• Increased wildfire threats to NID customers and operations
• NID’s fire resiliency and stewardship strategies
• Administrative: Regional cooperation and coordination with other agencies

• Watershed: Selective logging at Scotts Flat Reservoir
• Watershed CAL FIRE CFIP Grant: Fuels treatment at Peninsula Campground
• Watershed: Vegetation management on District properties

• Recreation: Campground fire awareness and education
• Recreation: Fire fuels reduction and hazardous tree removal

• Hydroelectric: Transmission line clearing / vegetation management
• Hydroelectric: Powerhouse backup power supply
• Hydroelectric: Powerhouse fire protection

• Maintenance: Fire response and resiliency
• Maintenance: Ongoing projects
