Board of Directors August 22 meeting wrap: Centennial audit review and approval for funding to clean reservoirs

The Nevada Irrigation District (NID) Board of Directors reviewed an independent CPA audit report for the Centennial Water Supply Project and awarded a contract for the Loma Rica and Newtown Reservoir Cleaning Project during its Aug. 22 meeting. Present were President William Morebeck and Directors Nancy Weber, John Drew, Nick Wilcox and Scott Miller.

The independent CPA audit of the Centennial Water Supply Project presented a comprehensive analysis of budget-versus-actual-spending, as well as accounting of all transactions. Read the Centennial Water Supply Project audit here.

Also, the Board awarded a construction contract to Koch & Koch in Penn Valley for the Loma Rica and Newtown Reservoir Cleaning Project in the amount of $344,100. This is the first year of the reservoir cleaning program, which has the goal of gaining back some of the lost capacity in District reservoirs that have sediment buildup. Read about the project here.

The General Manager reported District water storage is 217,189 acre-feet, which is 80 percent of storage capacity and 111 percent of average for the year. Read the agenda here.

The next regular meeting of the NID Board of Directors will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at the NID Business Center located at 1036 West Main Street, Grass Valley. NID Board meetings are open to the public.
