NID’s Recreation Facilities at Scotts Flat & Rollins Reservoirs Remain Closed through Memorial Day – Trails and the Bowman and Jackson Meadows Areas Open, Access is Weather Dependent

May 21, 2020

Nevada Irrigation District (NID) will keep its campgrounds and boat launches at Scotts Flat and Rollins reservoirs closed over the Memorial Day weekend.

The District is currently working with Nevada County Health Departments to create a safe boating environment that minimizes the risk of COVID-19 transmission. We anticipate to have appropriate measures in place to allow for the opening of the boat ramps at the two reservoirs next week.

NID trails have remained open throughout the COVID-19 crisis, as have the Bowman Lake and Jackson Meadows Reservoir areas, although access is subject to weather and road conditions at the higher elevations.

Although the recreational facilities will remain closed through the holiday weekend, public access to reservoirs may be available via the following alternative options:
• Rollins Reservoir – Greenhorn campground access
• Lower Scotts Flat Reservoir
• Bowman Reservoir via the walk-in boat ramp
• Jackson Meadows Reservoir – via the Pass Creek boat launch
• Combie Reservoir – resident access only

NID continues to coordinate with the Nevada County Health Department to determine when we can safely reopen the remainder of our recreational facilities.

We appreciate the public’s continued patience and cooperation during this time, and we will keep you updated as conditions change. NID remains committed to serving you and our community as we have for nearly 100 years. You can learn more about recreation and our efforts concerning COVID-19 on our website nidwater.com.
